ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Governor Andrew Cuomo says Democratic Assemblyman Vito Lopez must be expelled from the Legislature over claims of sexual harassment. Cuomo dismissed Lopez's announcement today that he'll leave the Assembly at the end of session on June 20 to run for New York City Council. That was likely Lopez's plan anyway, because he intended to run for the council seat representing Brooklyn.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - The head of the Seneca Indians has accused Governor Andrew Cuomo of engaging in "playground bully tactics" over their casino disagreement. Seneca Nation President Barry Snyder sharply criticized Cuomo in a prepared statement today, a day after the governor said the Senecas could lose their ability to operate casinos after their compact expires in 2016.

TONAWANDA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 2-year-old boy has drowned in a backyard pool after wandering away from his family's Buffalo-area home. Police in the town of Tonawanda, just north of Buffalo, tell local media outlets that the boy got out of the house around 1 p.m. Thursday and ended up in a nearby pool. Officials say he was given emergency CPR after being found at the pool, but he was pronounced dead at Kenmore Mercy Hospital.

OGDENSBURG, N.Y. (AP) - A 5.1-magnitude earthquake in Ontario, Canada has been felt across upstate New York from Buffalo to the Vermont border. Canada's government agency that monitors earthquakes says the quake occurred at 9:43 this morning about 13 miles northeast of Shawville, Quebec, about an hour's drive outside Ottawa.
