MYFOXNY.COM - Joel Waldman joined Fox 5 News as an Investigative Reporter in 2011. Recent reports include an in-depth expose on long wait times at local hospitals and its impact on patients with life threatening conditions.
Previously, Waldman reported for KGUN-TV in Tucson, Arizona, where he was the first reporter on scene after the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. While there, he also extensively covered immigration and border issues, including the murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, and garnered an Emmy Award for an investigative story on drug smuggling through the Sonoran Desert. Prior to that, Waldman reported for WFOR-TV in Miami and WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Waldman spent four years as the New York Stock Exchange correspondent for First Business, a nationally syndicated early morning television program seen on over 200 stations.
In 1996, Waldman began at MSNBC at its inception, producing live news as well as taped programming. He covered major news stories during the network's infancy, including the death of Princess Diana and the crash of TWA Flight 800. Waldman also worked as a producer on Headliners & Legends hosted by Matt Lauer, a nightly biography show.

A New Jersey native, Waldman graduated with honors from Brandeis University with a degree in English literature and also holds a master's degree in education from the Bank Street College Graduate School of Education. Before broadcasting, Waldman spent two years teaching inner-city children in Washington Heights. Waldman lives in New York City with his beloved dog, Mabel Rose.
