    • Facts About The World Trade Center

    The Port Authority of NY/NJ provided the following facts about the construction at the World Trade Center site:

    NATIONAL SEPTEMBER 11 MEMORIAL & MUSEUM
    -The memorial fountains are being constructed in the exact foot prints of the original World Trade Center twin towers
    -800,00 gallons of water will circulate through the fountains
    -Memorial Park will cover 8 acres, two times the size of new york city's bryant park
    -604 trees will fill the park
    -The trees are white swamp oaks and american sweet gum trees which will eventually soar to 150 feet.
    -The museum is seven stories deep; built directly beneath the memorial
    -Memorial Park projected to be open by: 9/11/2011
    -Museum completion: 2nd quarter 2013

    1 WORLD TRADE CENTER (FORMERLY THE FREEDOM TOWER)
    -1,776 feet tall - 102 floors
    -200,000 cubic feet of concrete
    -1,000,000 square feet of glass exterior
    -45,000 tons of structural steel
    -2,600,000 square feet of office space
    -Projected completion: 4th quarter 2013

    WTC TRANSPORTATION HUB
    -Estimated cost $3.2 billion
    - 800,000 square feet
    - Supported by 900 tons of steel
    -$591 million worth of security infrastructure
    -Will serve more than 250,000 pedestrians a day
    -Will connects path service, plus 12 subway lines, and the Battery Park City ferry terminal
    -Projected completion: 2nd quarter 2014
