NYPD Cops Pry Cat from SUV Engine

In between catching criminals and deterring terrorism, the NYPD occasionally comes to the rescue of one of New York's four-legged residents. Police officers responded to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx where a driver of an SUV said an animal was stuck in his vehicle's engine Monday afternoon.

A dog hunt is on for the person who dog-napped 'Kiki' the six-year-old poodle. Police in Linden, New Jersey say the pooch was taken by a man who grabbed the dog off the street on Thursday afternoon. A witness says she confronted the man who told her that the dog had jumped out of his van. 'Kiki' escaped from its dog-sitter in the rear yard of a home on North Stiles Street.

An unlikely pair of friends has emerged at a zoo in the German town of Stroehen. A small dachshund adopted a baby tiger last week, just a couple of weeks after the young tiger was rejected by its mother. Bessi, the dachshund, even helps to groom the tiger cub, which still does not have a name.
