Anger Over Subway Problems

Commuters who rely on the number 1 subway line are dealing with rough commutes since Monday. The '1' line is suspended between 242nd Street and 168th Street due to repair work at the 181st Street Station. Shuttle buses have been transferring people to their destinations, but the wait for a bus can be up to 15 minutes. Good Day NY spoke with Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz who represents upper Manhattan and the Bronx.

Transit Worker Falls On Subway Tracks

A transit worker is in critical condition after falling off the platform at the Rockaway Boulevard Station and onto the tracks. Fire department officials say the man hit the electrified rail known as the 'third rail.' The worker was rushed to Jamaica Hospital. The MTA website is reporting delays on all A trains. Southern State Parkway Reopens

A motorcycle and a car collided on the eastbound Southern State Parkway in Valley Stream early Monday morning. The motorcyclist was killed. New York State Police are investigating the crash. Jason Goines, 30, was traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to change lanes when he struck the rare of a car, according to N.Y. State Police.

FDR Closure and Bus Delays

The FDR Drive is closed to traffic from 14th Street to 20th Street until August 18. The NYC Department of Transportation is doing repair work on the road. All vehicles over 8,000 lbs. are being diverted at Houston Street. Expect bus delays on the BM, 1, 2, 3, 4, X2, 5, 10, 17, 22, 27, 28, and 31 bus lines.

Street Racing Crash

An 11-year-old boy is in critical condition after the BMW he was riding in crashed during a street race with a Lexus in Queens. Police say the drivers- an 18 year old and a 16 year old- were racing on Francis Lewis Boulevard just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

Crash On N.J. Turnpike Causes Closures

All northbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike near Exit 14 have reopened. Two-tractor trailers and a car collided on Wednesay morning. One of the trailers flipped over. The car caught fire. N.J. State Police say four people suffered minor injuries. The crash happened just north of Exit 14. All northbound lanes were closed during the height of the morning rush.

Taconic Crash Survivor Leaves Hospital

The 5-year-old boy who survived the wrong-way crash that killed eight people on a New York highway has
left the hospital. David Billig, spokesman for the Westchester Medical Center, said Tuesday that Bryan Schuler of West Babylon was no longer listed in the hospital patient directory.

Route 17 Reopens

All southbound lanes of Route 17 through Ridgewood, New Jersey are open. A collision involving two-tractor trailers during the morning rush on Tuesday lead to major delays through the area. One of the tractor-trailers overturned outside a gas station near Franklin Turnpike. It's not clear if anyone was injured. MyFoxNY.com is updating this story.

Lawyer For Schuler Family Talks To GDNY

Many questions remain unanswered in the shocking death of eight people on the Taconic State Parkway. Diane Schuler, 36, drove drunk and high on marijuana with four children in her car. Lawyers for Schuler's family say something was medically wrong with her on the day of the crash, but he doesn't support or dispute the findings of the toxicology report.
