Snow Watch: New York Plows Into Action

The plows and salt spreaders were working through the night on the streets of New York. More than 2,000 workers were called in anticipation of the worst snowstorm of the season. New Jersey is Ready for the Storm

Salt and shovels flew from store shelves as New Jersey prepared for what may be the worst snowstorm of the year. The entire state was under a winter storm warning that was due to remain in effect through Monday afternoon. Watch the report from Fox 5's Megan Vega (click on the media player, left).

Weather Alert: Snow Storm

Light rain across the Tristate area will gradually change to light snow overnight. This should not stick immediately as the low temperature drops to 34 degrees in Midtown and 26-34 degrees across the suburbs. We'll have periods of snow on Tuesday as bands of snow will set up on the back side of the storm.

The storm is winding down Wednesday night, but we will still have rain around for much of the area with some area of freezing rain well north and west of the city. Occasionally some snow flakes may mix in over those colder spots as well. All of this will come to an end before midnight then you can expect clearing to take place.

Snow will eventually turn over to sleet and then rain in New York City. Fox 5 Reporter Nicole Johnson is out in the wintry weather in the Riverdale section of The Bronx. (Watch the video report.)
