(NewsCore) - A deputy chairmen of the Bosnian Football Federation was beaten up by his country's soccer fans after their Euro 2012 qualifier victory in Luxembourg, state TV reported Saturday.
Bogdan Ceko was attacked and beaten late Friday in front of a hotel in Luxembourg where the Bosnian national squad stayed after the qualifier, said the report.
"They asked me if I was a chairman of the federation, I said 'No'," Ceko told the television station on his return to Bosnia.
"Then they asked me if I was his deputy. Four of five men came close and started beating me."
The incident occurred shortly after Bosnia's national squad had defeated Luxembourg 3-0 in a Euro 2012 qualifier, Bosnia's Football Federation said in a statement.
Ceko was hospitalized for slight head injuries, it added.
The attackers have yet to be identified, but the TV report said they were Bosnian fans "dissatisfied with activities of the Bosnian Federation."
The federation has been threatened with exclusion from international competitions for having failed to adopt statute changes requested by the sport's European and governing bodies UEFA and FIFA.
