Over Two Million Drop-Side Cribs Recalled

(NewsCore) - More than two million cribs were recalled Thursday by seven manufacturers to address safety hazards including the risk of suffocation, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) .

Most of the cribs affected by the voluntary recall, were drop-sides, which have a side rail that moves up and down so parents can lift children from them more easily.

The CPSC issued a warning last month that drop-side cribs could be associated with deadly accidents where babies' heads become trapped leading to suffocation or strangulation. Nine million drop-side cribs have been recalled over the past five years.

The cribs recalled Thursday were all manufactured between 2000 and 2009 and were made by the following seven companies: Delta Enterprise Corp., Evenflo, Jardine Enterprises, LaJobi, Million Dollar Baby and Simmons Juvenile Products Inc.

The CPSC encouraged consumers to stop using the cribs and contact these firms directly to obtain free repair kits and other remedies.
