MYFOXNY.COM - Each spring and fall for nine consecutive weeks, Columbia, Barnard, New York University and Baruch College students serve as coaches to prepare under-served high school students for the SATs and college application process free of charge. Each program is approximately nine weeks and meets for three hours at last twice a week. Let's Get Ready's programs are free to students and include:
• 30 hours of intensive instruction on the foundational
math and critical reading/writing skills that the SAT covers and
that are necessary to succeed in college.
• 3 diagnostic SAT tests taken for practice and to
gauge student progress.
• 15 hours of comprehensive information and guidance
regarding college selection, applications, financial aid and
scholarships.
• College Trips.
• Small classes (with no more than five students) led
by college student Coaches who mentor and inspire the high school
students.
Let's Get Ready operates in partnership with 18 prestigious colleges and universities in the Northeast in the fall and spring and many communities between New Jersey and Massachusetts over the summer.
