MYFOXNY.COM - Some pest-control companies are using special dogs to sniff out bed bugs, which are a huge problem in New York City.
Scout is one such bed bug-sniffing dog. His sensitive nose is trained to find live bed bugs and viable eggs. He works for Jim Skinner, the owner of A & C Exterminating Corp. on Long Island. Skinner says the dog is 98 percent accurate.
Scout was rescued from the pound and trained by retired canine police officers in Florida. Bed bug-sniffing dogs are trained the same way dogs are trained to sniff out bombs and drugs.
For Scout to come to your house and sniff out the bed bugs, you will have to throw him a bone, so to speak, and $350.
