Chrysler Closings: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut Dealers

MYFOXNY.COM - Chrysler has informed many dealerships in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut on Thursday that they were going to be terminated as official dealers. The bankrupt automaker wants to eliminate about a quarter of its dealerships across the country.

In a bankruptcy court filing, the auto giant announced plans to eliminate 789 of its 3,200 U.S. dealerships. Chrysler said the dealership network is antiquated and has too many outlets competing with each other. The targeted dealerships are those with the lowest sales.

The dealerships targeted won't necessarily close. Some also sell used cars or other brands and could stay open.
