Published : Thursday, 02 Sep 2010, 7:15 AM EDT

MYFOXNY.COM - New Jersey has been spared a direct hit from Hurricane Earl, but very rough surf, dangerous rip currents and some coastal flooding are likely. The National Weather Service has canceled the Tropical Storm Warning for southern coastal New Jersey.

Earl is expected to move north-northeast for much of Friday, staying away from New Jersey and the other mid-Atlantic states.
