MYFOXNY.COM - Eastern Long Island is likely to take the brunt of the tropical storm making its way up the east coast.
Officials in Southampton are keeping a close eye on the storm and taking precautions.
Good Day NY's Rosanna Scotto spoke with Mayor Mark Epley on Coopers Beach rated as the nation's third best beach.
Mayor Epley says unlike last weekend when the beach was closed for three days, he doesn't expect to do the same this weekend.
"We'll wait to get feedback from the U.S. Coast Guard," says Epley. He adds that the decision will be made tomorrow.
The primary concern for Southampton officials is rip tides and beach erosion.
