According to reports, Route 17 flooded near the Racetrack Road exit at the Ho-Ho-Kus border with Ridgewood and the storm also knocked down trees and wires in that area.

Residents said it looked like a winter snow storm had blanketed the area with a layer of white.

Mike Pressler, a battalion chief with the Elmwood Park Fire Department, told The Record of Bergen County it was "like we were in the middle of a blizzard."

NY Weather Authority Craig Allen said he has never seen anything like this storm, even out of the Midwest.
