MYFOXNY.COM/NEWSCORE - Rail-carrier Amtrak suspended Friday afternoon all through service between New York and Boston due to complications stemming from Hurricane Earl.

"Overhead electrical system damage from a tree which fell from outside Amtrak property in Connecticut and more severe weather forecasted this evening has led Amtrak to suspend all through service between New York and Boston," the company said in a statement.

Passengers currently on Amtrak trains in the affected areas are being returned to their stations, Amtrak said.

As of 12:00 pm ET, a hurricane warning was in effect for areas of Massachusetts from Woods Hole eastward around Cape Cod to Sagamore Beach and a tropical storm warning was in effect for the U.S. East Coast from Ocracoke, N.C., to Sandy Hook, N.J., and portions of Long Island, Massachusetts, Maine and Nova Scotia.
