NEW YORK - The MTA says the Throgs Neck Bridge will be back to near normal operation in the coming weeks.
A construction fire on July 10 closed traffic to Bronx-bound commercial vehicles.
The Fire Department blamed a worker's blow torch for the fire. It broke out in a construction shed under the bridge, which links the Bronx with Queens. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.
Trucks weighing up to 105,000 lbs. will be allowed back on the bridge beginning at 12:01 a.m. on July 25.
The Cross Island Parkway on-ramp and all the northbound bridge lanes will open on August 10.
More than 100,000 vehicles use the bridge on an average weekday.
