MYFOX NEW YORK STAFF REPORT
MYFOXNY.COM - Who says Americans don't like soccer/football/futbol/calcio? Well, at least New Yorkers, who hail from hundreds of counties all over the world, certainly do.
The FIFA World Cup of soccer has kicked off in South Africa. New Yorkers are gathering early at bars and restaurants all over the city to watch the action live.
Watering holes such as Manchester Pub in the East Village in Manhattan and El Chivito D'Oro in Jackson Heights in Queens were packed Friday with hard-core fans and newcomers to the sport.
Uruguay took on France Friday, which is why fans jammed into El Chivito D'Oro, which is a Uruguayan restaurant.
Team USA plays England Saturday.
