This year 110 million Americans tuned in to watch the FIFA World Cup games, proving that soccer is gaining popularity in the United States.

The U.S. may not have won this year's cup, but there is a goal to score when it comes to the upcoming games. The U.S. hopes to host the World Cup in 2018 or 2022. The U.S. last host the World Cup in 1994.

If the U.S. wins the bid, New York and New Jersey will be in the running to be a part of the action.

The U.S.'s bid committee executive director, David Downs, talks to Good Day about why the World Cup should come to America.

The online campaign -- www.gousabid.com -- reached 1 million supporters in the first day.
