These are just some of the errors discovered by Jeffrey Newman in the “Mastering the SAT Math “ study guide published by Wiley.
1) Page 71 Question 3. The answer at the bottom of the page sets up the equation using an appropriate methodology but the actual answer is computed incorrectly. The correct answer should be 16/15 which is not even one of the multiple choice options.
2) Page 74 Question 17. The question asks: how many two digit positive integers are multiples of both 2 and 5? The answer should be "C", or "nine" (eg 10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80 and 90). However, the answer on page 75 provides the solution to the number of digits that are multiples of 3 and 5, not 2 and 5 as asked in the question. The solution therefore answers the wrong question.
3) Page 135 Question 40. The question asks how much time in "minutes" should the passenger travel for the second mile. The answer on page 136 states the answer to be 50, which is incorrect. The answer of 50 provided is in seconds and represents 5/6 of a minute.
4) Page 203 Practice Test IA, Question 14. Again, the answer doesn't correlate with the question. The correct answer is not any of the five multiple choice alternatives. The correct answer should be 6 x square root of 10. However, the solution makes another flagrant error because it describes Milo traveling 13 miles "west" when the question has Milo traveling 13 miles "east".
