MYFOXNY.COM - The Super Bowl is the greatest spectacle on the sports calendar. Close to 100 million Americans tuned in on Sunday to watch the New Orleans Saints defeat the Indianapolis Colts. But according to a survey by Nielsen, people weren't parked on the couch just for the game.
Of the respondents, 51 percent watched the Super Bowl because of the commercials and enjoy the commercials more than the game.
“The Super Bowl remains a singular event for engaging the broadest number of consumers at one time,” said Mark Nesbitt, president of TNS Media Intelligence. “Because it is viewed live and experienced by a majority of the country at the same time, a commercial presence on the broadcast has great significance and impact for a brand.”
A good commercial can be the talk around the water cooler and CBS knows the advertising opportunity the Super Bowl presents. That’s why a 30-second Super Bowl commercial is costing companies $3 million. Take a sneak peak below at the hottest 2010 commercials without having to wait for the game.
