Gov. Paterson's Lawyer Takes Aim at Yankees Probe

MYFOXNY.COM - In a letter, Gov. David Paterson's lawyer fights back against accusations regarding Yankees World Series tickets. He says the accusations are half-baked, and he has the emails to prove the governor was invited to the World Series.

The Commission on Public Integrity concluded that Paterson lied about saying he would pay for the Yankee tickets when he attended the series. The ticket case is the subject of two criminal investigations.

But now Paterson's attorney, Theodore Wells Jr., says the commission ignored emails that showed Paterson staffers discussing an offer by the Yankees for playoff tickets; the emails supposedly indicated that someone from the Yankees front office called the governor's people.

Paterson reportedly declined the playoff tickets, but told the Yankees he'd take them when they reached the World Series.

This would bolster Paterson's argument that he was invited to the game.

The Commission on Public Integrity says that the letter from Paterson's attorney does not contest the findings that Paterson violated the gift ban.
