ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Unofficial results show voters roughed up incumbent county executives in Nassau and Westchester counties.
Democratic Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi was in a neck-and-neck fight for a third four-year term against Republican county legislator Edward Mangano. The candidates were split at 48 percent of the vote with 98 percent of precincts reporting late Tuesday. Suozzi ran unsuccessfully for his party's nomination to be governor in 2006.
In Westchester, incumbent County Executive Andrew Spano, a Democrat, trailed Republican Rob Astorino in his bid for a fourth term. With 87 percent of the vote in, Astorino had 58 percent of the vote to Spano's 42 percent.
