MYFOX NEW YORK STAFF REPORT
MYFOXNY.COM - A popular bar in Philadelphia is using Facebook to shame some women it says skipped out on paying their tab.
Mac's Tavern posted several still images taken from a security camera of three women, described as "middle-aged," and asked them to send in the money they owe on the check from their meal Wednesday night. In a message on its Facebook page, the tavern said it would not blow up the photos if the women settle their tab.
"…the 3 woman, dead center, in red, black and tan are the thoughtless, pieces of filth to which we are referring. Apparently, their modelling contracts ran out and they figured they'd treat us like a soup kitchen last night - a soup kitchen that serves alcohol. Unreal," the tavern said in one post.
The tavern's harsh words didn't sit well with some of its followers on Facebook who questioned the tavern's tactic in trying to get its money.
"…you're opening yourself up to legal issues by posting this on FB," one poster wrote. "Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law is not a concept that you can ignore just because you feel that you were wronged."
That sparked another strong response from the tavern.
"Apparently, to some people, we're offensive in our less-than-gracious attempt at recouping the money that was purposely left unpaid by these 3 women," another post by the tavern said. "To be clear - if you steal, you should expect consequences. So, people, please don't play this devil's advocate, stick up for the little guy, preachy game and call us 'meanies', coupled with all this verbal garbage about defamation and cliches about guilty til proven innocent."
Mac's posted seven photos of the women.
