NewsCore - NFL quarterback Tom Brady was said to be "pretty banged up" and "shaken" after a two car accident Thursday that reportedly required rescuers to employ the "jaws of life," to rescue a passenger in the other vehicle.
A team official told the Associated Press that Brady was unhurt in the 6:30 a.m. crash. Some Boston media outlets had initially reported that the three-time Super Bowl champion was injured.
"Patriots QB Tom Brady was in a car accident this morning. He was not hospitalized and is expected at Gillette Stadium today," the team's official Twitter feed read.
The accident happened near his home on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston's Back Bay when his sedan and a passenger van collided.
A passenger in the van was unconscious and had to be cut from the van and transported to Brigham and Women's Hospital, according to Boston.com . Brady declined medical treatment on-site.
The Patriots kick off their season on Sunday at 1 p.m. by hosting the Bengals. They are visiting the Jets at the new Meadowlands stadium during week 2 of the season.
There were reports this week that Brady had signed a contract extension with the Patriots, but on Wednesday he said that he had not signed any new deal.
Brady missed the rest of the 2008 season after being injured in the opening game versus the Kansas City Chiefs. He required knee surgery after tearing ligaments in his left knee on the 15th offensive play of the season.
Brady is married to supermodel Gisele Bundchen. The couple has a young son. They are reportedly building a $20M estate in California.
Brady also has a three-year-old son with model Bridget Moynahan.
