MYFOXNY.COM - Five people that prosecutors claim are connected to the Bonanno organized crime family were indicted on Friday.
The fourteen-count indictment was unsealed in Brooklyn federal court includes racketeering, extortion, illegal gambling and conspiring to distribute marijuana.
An alleged associate of the Gambino organized crime family, James LaForte, 35, was also charged with loansharking.
The defendants were arrested earlier in the day in New York.
One of the men arrested, Vincent Badalamenti, also known as "Vinny TV," is accused of being the highest member of the family that was not already under arrest.
Badalamenti, 53, allegedly directed the hostile takeover of a bar on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn after the owner failed to repay a debt.
71-year-old Anthony Graziano, also known as "TG," and 69-year-old Nicholas Santora, also known as "Nicky Mouth," are alleged to be captains in the Bonanno family and former members of the Bonanno family administration.
Vito Balsamo, 55, is accused of being an acting captain in the Bonanno family.
Anthony Calabrese, 44, was accused of being a soldier in the Bonanno family.
