MYFOXNY.COM - A man suspected in a carjacking was shot and killed by an off-duty police lieutenant in the Cypress Hills section of Brooklyn early Thursday morning, according to police.
Christopher Kissane, 22, was involved in an earlier shooting and two-carjackings -- one successful -- when he crashed the vehicle into a pole at Jamaica Ave. and Cyprus St. at about 4:10 a.m., according to NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne.
Kissane -- armed with a revolver and wearing a mask -- abandoned the vehicle and walked to Hemlock Street. The lieutenant followed the suspect when the man allegedly opened fire. The lieutenant fired back striking Kissane.
He was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect's nine-shot .22-caliber revolver was recovered at the scene, police said. It had four rounds left in the cylinder, police said. Officers also found a plastic bag containing 15 additional rounds at the scene.
The lieutenant was not injured, reported the Associated Press.
