MYFOXNY.COM - The people who own Joe's Pizza on Union Ave. in Holbrook are big New York Giants fans so they decided to honor Big Blue with a blue pizza and blue garlic nuts.
Pete Donofrio has owned the shop for 33 years. His son also works at the business.
Phil Donofrio says the blue pizza is a standard white pizza with some blue food coloring in the mix. The pie is ringed with pepperoni for the red in the Giants team colors.
"It's not just about football. It's about people coming together and maybe forgetting about some of the problems they have nowadays," the younger Donofrio says.
Not many customers in the shop were partaking in the blue pie on Monday, but they liked the idea. For the less adventurous, Joe's is also selling a football shaped pizza.
What happens if the Giants win the Super Bowl? Donofrio says they will attempt to construct pizzas in the shape of the Vince Lombardi trophy.
"Victory tastes delicious," Donofrio says.
