MYFOXNY.COM - Donald Trump is defending his aggressive questioning of President Obama's citizenship and educational background. He gave a wide-ranging interview to Good Day New York on Tuesday.
He also talked about what he believes his strengths are, the issues of dealing with China and OPEC.
When asked if his direct talk could end up hurting him, Trump said he can tone down his talk but added, "At this point I think it works best being aggressive. I mean, people say negative things about me and I go after them. Why shouldn't I?"
"As a president, I think I'd probably tone it down quite a bit," Trump admitted.
In the interview, he continued to insinuate that, as a student, Barack Obama was below average and questions why he got into an Ivy League school.
Trump says that he knows friends who have sons with A averages and great test scores who can't get into Harvard.
"I'd love to have him release his grades and his test scores," Trump said. "Maybe you should look at me too. I was a good student, so I don't mind."
When asked if he avoided the draft during the Vietnam War, Trump says he got lucky because, although he had a high draft number, his number was not called.
He also continued to question why the president has not been pro-active in proving he was born in the United States.
"I'd like to get rid of the birther issue too. I wish he would just show his birth certificate and we'll go on. But he hasn't," Trump said.
While he has not publicly decided if he will run for president, Trump is leading or near the top of some polls.
