Driver Hits Gas Pump Bursting Into Flames

Deadly Collision Under Investigation

MYFOXNY.COM - A car crashed into a gas pump on Staten Island bursting into flames and killing the driver, police said.

The 20-year-old man behind the wheel and his 25-year-old passenger were found inside the vehicle at the Citgo station at Bay Street and Hannah Street.

According to police, the driver lost control of a 2009 Honda just before 2 a.m. on Saturday that was traveling southbound on Bay Street. The car struck a gas pump at the corner causing the fire.

The passenger was taken to Richmond University Medical Center with cuts to his head. He is listed in stable condition.

The identity of the driver has not been publicized pending family notification.

Police are investigating the crash.
