Large Fuel Leak In Queens

Hazmat Teams Called To Scene

MYFOXNY.COM - Hundreds of gallons of petroleum leaked from a pipeline in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Queens on Tuesday.

The Department of Environmental Protection says the spill occurred when a contractor drilled into a jet fuel system of the Buckeye Partners at Skillman Avenue and 37th Street.

Approximately 200 gallons of fuel spilled into a sewer system just before Noon.

Valves were shut off and the spill was contained.

 

Firefighters and Hazardous materials crews were quickly on the scene. There were no reports of injuries.
