An explosion at a house in Flushing, Queens, injured two people Monday evening, the FDNY said.
The explosion rocked the two-story home around 7:30 p.m. The 64-year-old home owner was standing in the doorway of the basement when he opened a grill-style propane tank and it blew up.
He and a woman who was on another floor were briefly trapped in the damaged house. Firefighters rescued them both.
The man suffered some burns, but is expected to recover. He is being treated at Cornell's burn center.
The woman sustained minor injuries, fire officials said. She was taken to New York Hospital's Queens branch.
The FDNY and Con Edison were investigating. The Department of Buildings was checking if neighboring homes suffered any structural damage.
More than a hundred firefighters responded to the 2-alarm fire.
