MYFOXNY.COM - Police have made an arrest in the ht-and-run that left a staff member in Mayor Bloomberg's administration in a coma with severe brain injuries.
NYPD detectives arrested Frances Jasmin, 28, of the Bronx Wednesday.
She is charged with leaving the scene of an accident that lead to serious injury. The accident happened February 21 in Brooklyn.
Erinn Phelan, who worked for NYC Service, an agency that promotes volunteerism, and Alma Guerrero, were hit by a green Acura Legend.
Phelan, 22, and Guerrero, 23, were crossing Flatbush Ave. in Prospect Heights about 4:30 a.m. when they were hit.
The women were rushed to Kings County Hospital. Guerrero was in stable condition but Phelan was in much worse shape. Some sources have said that she has been declared brain dead.
"Erinn is a fighter and all of us here at City Hall -- and from around the City -- are pulling and praying for her," Mayor Bloomberg said in a written statement. "I want to thank the detectives who have been working tirelessly on this case, and I want to thank the New Yorkers who continue to keep Erinn in their thoughts and prayers."
Phelan was one of six Civic Corps Coordinators for NYC Service. Her job was to manage a docket of NYC Civic Corps members and the host sites. She helped to assure that initiatives were on target and volunteer goals were being met.
