It's been more than eight years since the September 11, 2001, attacks. Since then area hospitals have been working with city and state agencies to help make sure they are prepared for another terrorist attack.
The New York Hospital Association, which represents about 150 hospitals in the Tristate area, closely with these government agencies taking part in mock drills for different scenarios, such as a subway bombing.
Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, like many area hospitals, have stockpiled emergency equipment in special storage rooms, including decontamination suits responders can wear to protect themselves while treating contaminated patients if there is a chemical attack.
