Bernard Kerik's Bail Revoked

MYFOXNY.COM - A judge has revoked the $500,000 bail for former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik and ordered him to go straight to jail.

Fox 5 News reports that he is accused of violating terms of a protective order of consent leading up to his corruption trial.

The judge, U.S. District Judge Stephen C. Robinson, accused Kerik of giving information that had been sealed to the trutee of his legal defense fund.  The trustee leaked the information to a newspaper.

Kerik is accused of accepting renovations to his Bronx co-op in exchange for vouching for a company that wanted to do business with the city.  Kerik has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In another case, Kerik has also pleaded not guilty to charges of lying while being vetted to be Homeland Security secretary.

President George W. Bush had picked Kerik to run the department established in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

During interview with aides, Kerik denied having any financial dealings with contractors seeking to do business with New York City. But prosecutors say contractors spent more than $255,000 renovating his apartment.
