MYFOXNY.COM - The NYPD is hoping that witnesses or someone else will come forward with information that will lead them to three men suspected of beating a Hispanic man with baseball bats after an argument on Staten Island back on June 17.
Detectives from the NYPD Hate Crime Task Force are investigating it as a possible bias crime because they say one suspect, who was described as white, hurled anti-ethnic remarks at the victim, who is Hispanic, during the argument at a store on Richmond Avenue and Victory Boulevard.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the main suspect called the victim a "dumb Mexican" when the two quarreled over their places in line at the store.
They left the store, but moments later and a about a block away, the suspect and two other men pulled up in a car and got out with baseball bats, police said. They then attacked the Hispanic man, who suffered serious head injuries.
Police released a photo of the main suspect, taken from security-camera video from inside the store
