NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say they've caught a man hauling thousands of fake designer handbags, wallets and bogus Tiffany jewels through the Lincoln Tunnel into Manhattan.

The 28-year-old man was arrested on a trademark counterfeiting charge after a Port Authority of New York & New Jersey police officer stopped his van near the tunnel early Saturday. Port Authority spokesman John Kelly says the man had run a red light.

Kelly says Officer Roberto Reyes recognized two purses the driver showed him had fake Dolce & Gabbana labels. The man said he was going to a flea market.

Kelly says the van was packed with 10,000 pieces of counterfeit Tiffany jewelry, as well as 3,000 handbags and 2,000 wallets falsely labeled with such designer names as Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Burberry.
