MYFOXNY.COM - A bird strike caused damage to a plane making an approach at LaGuardia Airport on Tuesday morning.
American Airlines Flight 1256 was on it way to New York City from Miami.
The plane hit several birds just before landing. The plane was about 900 feet off of the ground.
The pilot reported a hydraulic leak in the nose gear after landing safely.
The plane was towed to gate 10 and crews are inspecting the damage.
There are no reports of injuries.
US Airways Flight 1549 made a famous Hudson River landing on January 15, 2009 after the plane hit a flock of Canada geese just after takeoff.
Federal Aviation Administration data released in April showed that airplane collisions with birds have more than doubled at 13 major U.S. airports since 2000.
John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York topped the list with at least 30 incidents.
