MYFOXNY.COM - Bronx bus service along parts of Broadway could be affected for several days because of a water main break in the Riverdale section. More than 100,000 gallons surged through Broadway and West 231st Street after a 20-inch pipe broke around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
Most of the water was gone Sunday evening but construction crews were still around, trying to make repairs through a gaping hole in the streets.
Watch the report from Fox 5's Lisa Evers (video, left).
The water filled the lower level of the Riverdale Parking Garage and gushed through the streets for several hours. Water also flooded a Chase bank and a Metro PCS phone store.
DEP officials said water pressure should be fully restored by midnight. People, however, may see some brown water coming through their taps.
Officials said the water is safe -- if you let it run a little before using it.
The cause of the water main break was being investigated.
