Police said that a collision between a pedicab and yellow taxi has seriously injured the pedicab driver and one of his passengers, the New York Post reported Wednesday. The pedicab sped down the bike lane of the Williamsburg Bridge into Brooklyn and then crashed into the taxi, the report said.
The pedicab flipped over and as wheel snapped in two.
The pedicab driver, described as in his 30s, hit his head on the curb and was unconscious when police responded to the scene, the Post reported. Medics took him and a female passenger to Bellevue Hospital, where they were listed in serious condition.
Pedicabs are apparently not allowed on the bridge.
The city's attempts to regulate the pedicab industry have been mired in court battles.
