MYFOXNY.COM - Five-year-old Jacob Neuman was riding in an elevator in Brooklyn last August when it stalled between floors.
An electrical malfunction caused the doors to open. Jacob tried to jump to the floor below, but fell 10 floors to his death. Jacob lived inpublic housing in South Williamsburg.

Now, legislators are supporting a bill they say that could prevent similar tragedies. On Saturday, lawmakers, people who live in public housing and community leaders rallied on the steps of City Hall in support of the measure that would require the Housing Authority to install restrictors on all 3,300 elevator doors.
The devices prevent people trapped inside stalled elevators from opening the cab doors.
However, on Friday, Housing Authority officials said it was already placing restrictors in every building.
