Residents of the West Village say they have unwelcome visitors -- rats. Some people tell Fox 5 that the rats are practically taking over the streets. They say the rats are so daring they chase down and eat mice.
This area is home to many celebrities -- and many rats. They say 42 Morton Street is their main headquarters.
Acting on complaints, the city Health Department sent out the rat patrol in full force. Inspectors found rat droppings inside the building and told the owner to clean it up or else.
Some resident are trying to keep rats from rummaging through their garbage.
The city says that complaints about rats are slightly down this year. They say if your building has a rat problem and the landlord won't do anything about it, you should call 311 to complain.
