Richmond University Medical Center has fired Mark Musarella, 46, after officials there found out about the picture of Caroline Wimmer, according to the Daily News. However, officials would not confirm to Fox 5 the reason for the dismissal.
Wimmer's parents found her strangled to death in her apartment on March 30. Musarella had responded to the crime scene.
Her parents told Fox 5 that the news of the posting of their dead daughter's photo was horrifying.
The Staten Island District Attorney's office is investigating and would not comment further.
