MYFOXNY.COM - The Chelsea Piers sports and entertainment complex along the Hudson River is New York City's largest commercial user of 100 percent wind power, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Since October, the complex has been purchasing wind energy in an amount equal to the entire electricity usage of its 28-acre, 1-million-square-foot property through ConEdison Solutions, a supplier of clean and renewable energy.

"We're proud to be a green leader in Hudson River Park, which has played such an important role in reuniting the City with the Hudson River waterfront," said Chelsea Piers President Tom Bernstein, in a statement. "While the centerpiece of our green initiative was purchasing 100 percent green power, we have also made a number of smaller, yet significant, changes.
Chelsea Piers management says it has reduced its overall energy and water consumption, uses sustainable indoor and outdoor materials, partners with eco-friendly vendors, and recycles to reduce the carbon footprint.
