MYFOXNY.COM - Despite the bright city lights that usually make stargazing tough in New York, there are places you can gander at the galaxy above.
Every week stargazers led by Jason Kendall hike to the top of Inwood Hill Park to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy. Kendall has convinced the northern Manhattan Parks Department to go dark for a natural light show on Friday, April 3, at 8 p.m.

"We'll be having everybody gather at the Dyckman Street entrance to the ball fields and bring everyone in as a group and once we've all assembled, the electrician will turn the lights off," says Jennifer Hoppa of the Parks Department.
The Inwood Astronomy Project hopes to create a real life science project for New Yorkers.
