MYFOXNY.COM - Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn unsealed an indictment against two New York City firefighters and a sanitation worker accused of growing marijuana in their home in Queens Village. Agents say they seized more than 100 marijuana plants from the house, which is less than a thousand feet from an elementary school.

Two brothers -- Michael and Matthew Cody -- were arrested Wednesday and were arraigned in Brooklyn federal court Thursday. Michael is a sanitation worker and Matthew is an FDNY firefighter.

As they left the courthouse in Downtown Brooklyn Thursday, they hid their faces behind papers and hats. One of them shoved news photographers who were trying to take their pictures.

In February, authorities arrested and arraigned Patrick Murphy, a firefighter, in connection with the case. All three men are free on bond, authorities said.

According to the indictment, the Cody brothers and Murphy intended to sell the marijuana they were growing. Because their home is so close to a school, they face a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 80 years in prison if convicted.

The FDNY said that Matthew Cody and Murphy have been suspended. They served with Engine Co. 292 in Queens.
