Filthy Home Leads to Pot Bust on Long Island

Cops on Long Island busted a man for allegedly growing more than a dozen marijuana plants in his home, which was covered in filth and debris, authorities said.

Christopher Grossman, 37, faces charges of criminal possession of marijuana, endangering the welfare of a child, and unlawfully dealing with a child.

The arrest came about when a Nassau County police officer saw a car in a parking lot in Seaford with music blasting with Grossman and his 5-year-old son standing next to it, police said.

The officer noticed that the inside of the car was littered with clothing, golf clubs, and paper. The cop also saw bottles of soda, anti-freeze, and laundry detergent surrounding the child's car seat.

Officers then asked Grossman to see his home to make sure that the child's living conditions were suitable.

Grossman brought cops to his home in Bethpage, which police say was in a "deplorable state."

The officers said they found a marijuana pipe on a desk, four stems of a marijuana plant on the kitchen table, and 18 marijuana plants and an elaborate lighting and ventilation system in a room. Cops busted Grossman and called in Child Protective Services.
