A man and his young son, who were riding won a water bike were killed when the craft slammed at full speed into a dock in a Long Island creek. The man and the five year old child were riding a Yamaha personal watercraft on Crooked Creek in Lawrence when they apparently lost control and crashed into a wooden dock Saturday.

Some witnesses rushed to the scene of the crash and pulled the boy from the wreckage as cops arrived, Fox 5's Rob Malcolm reported. Police pulled the man from the water and performed CPR. Officers rushed the man to St. John's Hospital in Lawrence, where he died, according to reports.

A Nassau County police helicopter transported the boy to Nassau University Medical Center in serious condition.  Fox 5 News reported on Sunday that the boy died.

Residents said that the creek is a notoriously dangerous waterway to navigate and isn't meant for high-speed boating.

The Nassau County Police Marine Bureau impounded the craft for a safety test. Investigators were also checking the registration to identify its owner.
