Swimmer Dies In Westchester Quarry

VERPLANCK, N.Y. - A young man has been found dead after swimming with friends in a suburban New York quarry.

Westchester County Police Officer Tim Joyce says Samaritans tried unsuccessfully to revive the man on Thursday night in Verplanck.

Residents have been urging a crackdown on illegal swimming there.

An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of the man's death. He was believed to be in his late teens or early 20s.
