Guilty Verdict in Newark Murders

MYFOXNY.COM - A New Jersey jury has convicted a 20-year-old man of murder and robbery in the execution-style slayings of three college-bound friends in 2007.

The jury reached its verdict Tuesday after about 20 hours of deliberations over four days. It received the case on Thursday afternoon.

Word comes just hours after a juror nearly caused a mistrial.

Prosecutors revealed earlier Tuesday that a female juror didn't acknowledge in a questionnaire before the trial started that she had a criminal case pending.

Alfaro's defense attorney moved for a mistrial and said the prosecution acted improperly by researching the juror's background more than a month after jury selection.

The judge denied the motion and ruled she could stay after interviewing the juror in his chambers.

Two of the defendants are already serving consecutive life sentences.
