MYFOXNY.COM - A 26-year-old man from Bloomfield, New Jersey was shot in the head and killed in Newark early Wednesday morning. Police say the shooting death is the first murder in the Brick City in 37 days.

Investigators are looking for three suspects. The gunman fled the area around Hunterdon Avenue and Lehigh Avenue in a blue vehicle occupied by two men, said Newark Police.

The victim was rushed to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are urging anyone with information on the deadly shooting contact the Crime Stoppers anonymous hotline at 877 NWK-TIPS (877 695-8477) or NWK-GUNS (877 695-4867).

Police are offering a reward of up to $2,000.

City officials say the 37-day murder-free period was shy of the previous stretch of 43 days in 2008.
